Lenovo LOQ 15 Review

As soon as people hear gaming laptops they have doubts on finance and hesitate on heavy tacky builds. But that is no more the norm. So when it comes to laptops Lenovo always seems to prevail whether it be business, studies or gaming. Thus they triumph on gaming laptop as well. Their Legion series have been a site to wonder from tremendous performance to solid build quality and everything else. This year they released new LOQ lineup of affordable gaming laptops which I was eagerly waiting for

So you cannot afford a more expensive gaming laptop, no worries. If your budget is under $1000 Lenovo LOQ 15 is now on your shortlist which it should be because there is a lot to like about this laptop.

Furthermore, the LOQ 15 offers a wide range of customization options allowing users to choose either Intel or Ryzen to adapt to the system to their specific needs and preferences

But be careful which specs you choose if you choose the wrong one that might not feel like money well spent.

Conclusion

The Lenovo LOQ 15 is a 15-inch budget gaming laptop. It looks a lot like Legion 5 pro but it does not have aluminum chassy like the legion 5 pro. Its plastic but its sturdy and looks very durable and you do get a little bit of fingerprints here and there. It does weigh about 2.38 kg so it is a bit heavier than I expected. The design is not flashy or eye catchy. It is decent considering budget laptops. It looks simple yet classy. Though It does have all the ports on the back of the laptop like their other expensive models.
Lenovo did give a lot of thought to gamers in this laptop. The left side of the laptop incorporate 3.5mm mic combo jack and USB-C 3,2 Gen2 which supports 140W USB-C charge and Display-port 1.4. And on the right we have a physical camera disengage switch and USB 3.2 Gen 1 port. Now behind the laptop, there are 2 USB 3.2 Gen2 ports and Ethernet port, HDMI 2.1 port that supports up to an 8K 60hz screen and a lenovo DC-in connector for astonishing 170W fast charging power brick.

It has an outward facing webcam so it super easy to open even with one hand. The screen can be a little wobbly but that has really not been a problem for me. It is solidly built with minimal screen flex and keyboard flex. Even the hinge also looks super robust. The keyboard has a minimalist design and the experience is pleasing and well responsive. It is very tactile with super deep and satisfying travel of 1.5 mm and you also have the option to have back-lighting to be 4- zone RGB which looks very cool.  The design is also very good. The Stone Grey color scheme and subtle blue ascents are very understated and minimalist which I really like which gives it a touch of its own.

The Display is not 16:10 but a traditional 16:9 gaming display but for its price it very good. Its 1920*1080 and 100% sRGB color accurate and looks stunning while gaming. The colors and contrast are more than satisfactory but the brightness is pretty average. So don’t be gaming outside. Its like 313 nits of brightness which is actually better than ASUS TUF F16 which is double the price. Overall,  it is very respectable panel. The webcam is 720p, not the best I would say but very useful and microphones are also decent.

The LOQ 15 have different variants you can choose from. For Intel, it spec up to a 13th Gen Intel Core i7-13700H processor. Now there are two processors overall. The balanced Intel core i5-13420H processor consists of 8 cores including 4P-cores and 4E-cores. It has a 12MB of Intel smart cache and max turbo frequency of 4.6 GHz. Moreover, if you are looking for more power Intel core i7-13700H that consists of total 14 cores, 6P-cores and 8E-cores. It also have 24 MB of Intel smart cache and max turbo of 5.0 GHz. The LOQ also comes with super fast DDR5 RAM.

Now the Ryzen variant comes with Ryzen 7 7840HS CPU which I have been using. If you are not into the Intel name and brand the Ryzen CPU is also very efficient and comes with a better battery usage. The performance of these chip is very very similar. As for the GPU, you can get RTX 4050 which is more than enough for gaming and multimedia activities. It also gives you consistent performance, faster performance and better battery life.

There are many other competitors if you want you to buy other laptops. Like LOQ 15 there are laptops which are very good gaming laptop but you would have to have a flexible budget. If you are not looking for a gaming one then a Macbook or a Thinkpad is very good but a bit pricey. Aside from that there is Victus 15, Acer Nitro V15 and others. So with all that said which one should buy? Well that depends. The obvious answer here would be LOQ15 for me. The lenovo LOQ15 beats its competition with better performance as well as better build quality and design. The display is also suprisingly better than others and even rivals high end laptops. The thermals are also very good abd better than Nito V15 and Victus 15 because of its cold-front hyper chamber cooling system,.But some also may value the Acer Nitro V15 because of its ability as well as its aesthetics and slightly longer battery life at the expense of performance. But if you have your heart set on Acer nitro V15 or Victus 15 then at its price its already a very good buy for laptop for those on budget. Thus its all about your preferences and specifics.

Lenovo LOQ 13th Gen (15, Intel)

Conclusion

Choosing the best gaming laptop maybe a headache but if you can figure out specific and preference then it can be very easy makeover.

LOQ 15 is a very good gaming laptop that does a lot of things right. Whereas by doubling down on performance, Lenovo has managed to deliver one of the best budget friendly laptop you could find right now. The only problem is the display is maybe not the brightest but who cares when you can pack this much power in this device.
